Andhra Pradesh & Telangana Society for Mathematical Sciences

A forum for research workers, young and old, to present their finding and for reviewing the state of the art in their specialized areas of mathematical sciences besides bringing together academics for camaraderie and intellectual interaction.

About

The Andhra Pradesh Society for Mathematical Sciences (APSMS) was established in the year 1986 with its headquarters at Department of Mathematics, Osmania University, Hyderabad. APSMS was formed with the pioneering efforts of Late Prof. N.Ch. Pattabhi Ramacharyulu, the then Professor of Mathematics, Regional Engineering College, Warangal (Now National Institute of Technology Warangal), and Late Prof. P.V. Arunachalam, the then Professor of Mathematics, Sri Venkateshwara University, Tirupati, & Former Vice Chancellor, Dravidian University.

Since its inception, it has been consistently and successfully organising its annual congresses, providing a common platform for scientists, researchers (young and old), technologists, and engineers to present and discuss the current research work conducted by them individually or in groups in their specialised areas of mathematical sciences. It has been attracting a large number of researchers not only from our country but also from abroad.

The society has made significant progress in encouraging inter-disciplinary research in the mathematical sciences. Young researchers / scientists are encouraged by the Society through awards, which are specifically designed for that purpose.

APSMS has been renamed as Andhra Pradesh and Telangana Society for Mathematical Sciences (APTSMS) in 2018 in consequence of the separation of the Andhra Pradesh state as Andhra Pradesh and Telangana states.

Objectives

  • Promotion of studies and research in all disciplines of Mathematics (like Pure Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Astronomy and so on).
  • Provision of a common forum to bring together the Mathematical scientists to exchange information and views relating to their respective fields of interest in Mathematics.
  • Organization of periodical conferences, symposia, short term courses ect. At different places in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana with a view to improve the quality of Mathematical education and research.
  • Publication of a research journal of Mathematical sciences.

PRESIDENT

Department of Mathematics

NIT, Warangal

APTSMS, a well-established forum for researchers in all areas of Mathematics, Statistics, and Operations Research, has gained the admiration of all researchers, including those from various research/academic organisations. This has been accomplished because of the enormous selfless hard work and dedication from a certain number of people from its inception. Several eminent mathematicians in the state have acted as presidents and other office bearers and contributed to the development activities of the society. I hope, in the coming years, it will be able to attract more people under the umbrella of APTSMS.

I am grateful to all the members of APTSMS for electing me as President. I promise to give my honest and sincere efforts in carrying out my responsibility, to work selflessly and to do my best possible to promote APTSMS to a higher level.

APTSMS has utmost responsibility to carry out more tasks for the benefit of researchers in Mathematics. Among them, starting some APTSMS chapters to conduct local activities, giving recognition to established researchers, are some that can be given due consideration in near future.

The Society aspires to organize symposia, seminars, endowment lectures, exhibitions, international conference, quizzes in university and engineering colleges and institute of higher education to promote the importance and applications of Mathematics in various fields of Science and Technology. To organize such events, interested organizations, colleges, universities, and other institutions should get in contact with the APTSMS office.

The faculty, research scholars and students of various universities, institutions and colleges in the states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana can register as life members, annual members and student members of this august body.

Institutions, Organisations and Educational institutions, can also register as corporate members.
